I had a great experience picking up a one-way rental car at the Rennes train station. The Hertz office is pretty close to the main train station. There was only one person working but fortunately only one person in line in front of us. The fellow spoke good English and walked me through all of the paperwork. It took no more than 5-10 minutes. To pick up the car we had to walk across the street and meet another Hertz rep to get the keys, then he gave us directions to the car in a nearby parking garage. The car was an upgrade from what we paid for and was fine for our trip, though it wasn't exactly spotless inside.
